In this project, students will
- research the parts of a cell (Nucleus, Vacuole(s), Mitochondrion, Cell Wall, Cell Membrane, Chloroplasts)
- determine their essential function
- create a graphic with labeled images that represent that function (for instance, the Mitochondria are the “power plants” of the cells, so they could be represented by an image or graphic of a power plant.
Students will use the online editor, Pixlr to create the graphics.
Start by saving images you want to use. (Ctrl-click “Save Image)
File > Open Image
In the “Layers” window, unlock the layer
In pixlr, delete the background. (Use the Eraser tool or the Magic Wand tool ).
Add all the images to one document (800 x 600 pixels) in Pixlr.
Label the parts of your “Cell.”
